PngOptimizer is an opensource software in Windows OS. In the internet, images are very helpful to explain more than writing only with text. (As you can suppose, icons can show the meaning of various things in a small displaying area. And we still need to use images when we want to use special font for logo or so.)

But, of course, using many images will cause a increasing of total file size though each size of files are not so big. Yes, we may face at & worry about large traffic if we leave these files as they are… It’s the time to use PngOptimizer!
PngOptimizer is a simple utility to minimize the file size of PNG image file. Although PNG file format itself has originally a compression capability, this small tool can compress more by changing the compression ratio or by deleting meta information/color profiles from PNG file. After applying the minimizing by this tool, PNG files size may reduce to half of the original file size.
All things you need to applying is only “drag’n drop” onto the window of PngOptimizer. And you can applying it from CUI interface. In addition, this tool can convert your files from BMP/GIF/TGA to PNG format. And also, it will be suitable for Animation PNG.
Recently, PNG files are increasing in the web as a slight trend. Let’s save time with this tool to optimize the file size in bulk.

Scan Tailor is an open source software for Windows/Linux. I often hear that it’s quite possible to scan books and digitize data out of it. Usually preserving books would either deteriorate books through over years or take some extra space for keeping books. Keeping any digital books on the other hand would be less of a headache to worry about, but to simply enjoy the book.

JQSlickWrap is an open source software for jQuery based and made by JavaScript. We see that they use all kinds of images in the Web pages every day. When the image is square shape, it’s easy for text flow to wraparound the image. If the image would be triangle or the content would be a person,wrapping the image around in square line wouldn’t look good at all.

Wally is an open source software for Windows/Mac OSX/Linux. It didn’t work in my environment, but it’s such a cool gadget so I wanted to share it (Just let me know if anybody has tried it and worked). As I have my software launched with full screen covering the whole screen, the wallpaper setting would be normally default or blue. But I want to try some other background themes sometimes.

I guess I could use one of my images as a wallpaper, but I know I get bored easily. If I have a wallpaper that changes regularly, that would be great. There is a software called Wally that provides changing a wallpaper and supports many of the outside Web service too.

DropMocks is an open source software for Google App Engine written in Python. The upload function by the drag and drop that is a new feature of Gmail attracts attention. If you use the once, you can not get out this function because it is very convenience.

Dropup is a freeware made by JavaScript/Node.js （source code is already published). One of the useful features for Gmail is uploading to add some files using drag and drop while you compose a mail. If you apply this feature in the site, I’m sure you can expect the high usability.
But it’s a little awkward to actually use it, because of the strict limit it has on the corresponding browser. Unlike a Gmail feature, you might want to try Dropup for implementing similar features.
